AFC/M23 movement has demanded that President Félix Tshisekedi face prosecution for treason, declaring that no national dialogue can take place until he is held accountable.

The declaration was made by Jean-Jacques Mamba, a senior member of the movement, after a high-level meeting with AFC/M23’s top leadership.

“The real dialogue will only come when Tshisekedi himself requests it. At that moment, an emissary will be sent to notify him of the criminal acts of high treason before his trial at the Constitutional Court. Until then, dialogue will proceed without him,” Mamba said.

The statement reflects a hardening of AFC/M23’s position, moving from criticism of Tshisekedi’s governance to a direct call for judicial proceedings against him.

The Movement leaders argue that Tshisekedi has committed acts that undermine the Constitution, betray national interests, and justify a formal treason trial.

Mamba met with senior AFC/M23 officials, projecting an image of unity and coordination within the movement’s political and military leadership. The presence of key figures such as Corneille Nangaa and other high-ranking members illustrates the collective backing for this position.

By framing Tshisekedi as a traitor to the nation, AFC/M23 is seeking not only to strip him of political legitimacy but also to set the stage for a post-Tshisekedi transition in which the movement positions itself as a decisive political force.
