The Alliance Fleuve Congo (AFC–M23) has reiterated its commitment to restoring state authority and promoting national unity across the Democratic Republic of Congo, while calling for an inclusive dialogue to resolve the country’s ongoing political and security crisis.

In a communiqué released in Goma on Saturday, the movement reported returning from Kinshanga, where it represented its coordinator, Corneille Nangaa, at the coronation of King Bashali Jacques. The AFC–M23 extended its congratulations to the monarch, wishing him “a fruitful reign, bringing peace and prosperity to his people.”

Upon returning to Goma, the delegation expressed solidarity with the family and friends of JJ Litho, offering prayers for his recovery and invoking divine strength and healing.

Reaffirming its political stance, the AFC–M23 declared its determination to restore state authority across the entire national territory, emphasizing that this process had already begun in areas under its control. The group described its cause as just and profound, rooted in the need for a national and inclusive dialogue that allows every community to express its views and contribute to building a unified and stable Congo.

The communiqué also addressed statements made by DRC President Félix Tshisekedi, referring to him as “the moral authority of the Wazalendo and FDLR militias.” The movement rejected allegations linking it to Rwanda, asserting that President Paul Kagame is not the leader of their movement and holds no legitimacy to decide their future. It insisted that the AFC–M23 remains sovereign and faithful to the aspirations of the Congolese people.

The statement further condemned what it described as dangerous hate speech aired on national television, where an individual was reported to have called for violence against civilians.

The group urged the Public Prosecutor’s Office and the High Council for Audiovisual and Communication (CSAC) to take firm action in accordance with the law, warning that such rhetoric poses a serious threat to peace and national cohesion.

Concluding its message, the AFC–M23 reaffirmed its resolve to end what it called “the regime of incompetence and disorder embodied by citizen Tshilombo,” a reference to President Tshisekedi, and to establish a responsible, just, and inclusive system of governance.

The communiqué reflects ongoing tensions between Kinshasa and the M23-led alliance, which continues to demand political dialogue as a pathway to ending years of instability in eastern Congo.
