The Secretary-General of the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie (OIF), Louise Mushikiwabo, paid a courtesy visit to the outgoing President of the African Union Commission (AUC), Moussa Faki Mahamat, before departing from Addis Ababa.

During the meeting, Mushikiwabo congratulated Faki for his leadership and commitment throughout his eight-year tenure at the helm of the AUC. She also expressed appreciation for the strong collaboration between the African Union and the Francophonie organization under his leadership.

“This was an opportunity to congratulate him for his actions and commitment during the eight years he spent at the head of the AU and to thank him for the excellent collaboration between his teams and those of the OIF,” Mushikiwabo stated.

Faki’s tenure at the AUC has been marked by efforts to strengthen continental integration, enhance peace and security, and advocate for Africa’s position in global governance. His departure marks a significant transition for the African Union as it prepares for new leadership.

The meeting between the two leaders highlights the continued partnership between the AU and OIF, particularly in areas of governance, development, and linguistic cooperation across Africa.
