Former President Joseph Kabila was today designated as the president of a new political platform called “Save the DRC” following political consultations held in Nairobi, Kenya.

In their final statement, participants condemned what they described as an “unjust verdict” issued by the Military High Court, which sentenced Kabila to death in absentia.

The declaration reflects growing political tensions in the Democratic Republic of Congo and widespread criticism from Kabila’s supporters.

The signatories also expressed full backing for the 12 crisis resolution points presented by Kabila in his most recent address to the nation.

These points, they said, provide a clear roadmap for restoring peace and stability in the DRC, emphasizing dialogue, reconciliation, and national cohesion.

Political analysts say the creation of the “Save the DRC” platform adds more pressure on President Félix Tshisekedi, who is already facing mounting political and security challenges.

Kabila’s move consolidates his supporters and positions him as a central figure capable of influencing the country’s political landscape amid ongoing unrest and governance concerns.
