The Federal Ministry of Youth Development has formalized a partnership with financial technology company Flutterwave through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at advancing youth empowerment, mentorship, and business skills development across Nigeria.
The agreement, signed during a ceremony presided over by the Honourable Minister for Youth Development, Comrade Ayodele Olawande, marks a significant step toward implementing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly in the areas of job creation and economic growth.
“This collaboration represents a critical step in fulfilling President Tinubu’s vision for youth empowerment,” said Minister Olawande during the signing ceremony, which was also attended by Permanent Secretary Mr. Olubunmi Olusanya and other senior officials.
Under the new partnership, Nigerian youth will gain access to comprehensive training programs, mentorship opportunities, and support systems designed to foster small business development and entrepreneurship.
Flutterwave Founder and CEO, Olugbenga Agboola, emphasized the company’s commitment to creating sustainable solutions for Nigeria’s youth. “We are dedicated to building platforms that will empower young Nigerians through targeted training, strategic partner engagement, and improved access to business opportunities that ensure long-term economic impact,” Agboola stated.
The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and Citizenship & Leadership Training Centre (CLTC), key agencies under the Ministry’s supervision, will play central roles in implementing the various initiatives outlined in the agreement.
According to the Ministry, this public-private partnership aligns with President Tinubu’s eight priority pillars by supporting job creation, youth empowerment, economic diversification, skills development, digital innovation, national identity, and civic responsibility.
The initiative is expected to provide young entrepreneurs with essential resources to scale their businesses while expanding access to training and mentorship programs that drive innovation across multiple sectors of the economy.
Minister Olawande concluded the ceremony by expressing confidence that the collaboration with Flutterwave will significantly strengthen the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to secure a brighter and more prosperous future for Nigerian youth.
