President Félix Tshisekedi of the Democratic Republic of Congo has reshuffled his government in a long-anticipated move following political consultations earlier this year.

The shake-up brings two opposition figures into key positions. Former Prime Minister Adolphe Muzito has been appointed Vice Prime Minister and will oversee the budget, while Floribert Anzuluni, leader of a small opposition party, will head the ministry for regional integration.

Several ministers have switched portfolios, including Eve Bazaiba, who moves from the environment ministry to social affairs, and Aimé Boji, who shifts from budget to industry.

Prime Minister Judith Suminwa remains in her post.

Political analysts suggest the reshuffle may be part of Tshisekedi’s strategy to consolidate his party and build broader consensus ahead of the next presidential election, scheduled for 2028.
