Several civilians were killed in a devastating attack by FARDC and its allies this morning at 8:03 AM in the Nyange region of North Kivu, Eastern Congo.

According to reports, a coalition fighter jet and two Sukhoi-25 sorties, supported by a CH-4 drone, targeted Nyange and surrounding densely populated areas, including Bibwe, Chytso, and Hembe. The assault has left the local population reeling, with fears of rising casualties as the conflict intensifies.

The Alliance Fleuve Congo (AFC/M23) issued a strongly worded communiqué condemning what it described as grave war crimes committed by the Kinshasa regime. Lawrence Kanyuka, Head of the Department of Communication, said: “This Friday, September 19, 2025, the terrorist regime in Kinshasa perpetrated massacres and committed grave war crimes. Its coalition forces bombed the densely populated areas of Bibwe, Chytso, Hembe, and their surroundings, using a CH-4 drone and two Sukhoi-25 fighter jet rotations.”

He added that at 8:03 AM, a new attack carried out by a CH-4 drone targeted Nyange and its surroundings, resulting in the deaths of several civilians.

Kanyuka further accused Kinshasa of deliberately sabotaging the Doha peace process in favor of pursuing a military solution, framing the attack as part of a broader pattern of state-led violence.

He also criticized the muted international response, saying: “The AFC/M23 takes the world as witness and condemns in the strongest terms the silence of the International Community, Humanitarian Organizations, and Human Rights Defenders who remain spectators to the slaughter of our compatriots.”

Kanyuka reaffirmed the group’s pledge to defend the people of Eastern Congo relentlessly, citing escalating ethnic cleansing and hate speech originating from Uvira.
