Plane crash investigation team has reportedly arrived at the Kenge site where a plane carrying senior military officers crashed on Friday killing all onboard.
Details have emerged that the Permanent Bureau of Aviation Accident and Incident Investigations (BPEA) are already at the Kenge crash site.
The BPEA is responsible for conducting technical investigations into aviation accidents and incidents on the DRC territory.
The team is expected to study the plane debris at the scene to determine the circumstances and technical causes of the accident.
Several local media outlets on Monday questioned the flight conditions and responsibilities.
Justice Minister Guillaume Ngefa has ordered the immediate opening of a full judicial inquiry.
Lieutenant General Joseph Mutombo Katalay Tiende, First President of the High Military Court; Lieutenant General Lucien René Likulia Bakumi, Auditor General of the Armed Forces of the DRC; and the First and Most Senior Advocate General of the Armed Forces, who was serving as Acting Auditor General all died in the plane crash.
The Ministry of Justice is requesting that the military justice system mobilize all its resources to shed full light on the troubling crash.
The investigators’ objective is to accurately establish the facts, reconstruct the precise circumstances, and identify the technical or material causes of this disaster.
A government critic Kalonji Kabamba claimed that he was suspicious of the mission that would have involved such high ranking military officers on an old plane.
The FARDC vehemently rejected the accusations from Kalonji Kabamba regarding the mission.
The army said, “it was an official judicial inspection mission and denounces statements that are “unfounded and without evidence.”
“It reserves the right to bring the matter to justice and calls for not relaying unverified information.,” FARDC responded.
