A total of 530 AFC-M23 grassroots leaders from the city of Goma have completed an ideological training program held on Friday in Kanombe, Rutshuru territory.

The training, conducted under the program titled “UNITEC 004 / Uongozi Bora,” focused on themes of good governance, the vision and guiding principles of AFC-M23, as well as the role of youth and women in the movement’s broader political and social agenda.

Organizers said the course was designed to strengthen local leadership capacity, particularly among neighborhood representatives and community mobilizers drawn from Goma and surrounding areas.

The closing ceremony brought together senior AFC-M23 officials, including North Kivu Governor Bahati Musanga Erasto, Goma Mayor Désiré Ngabo Kisuba, and Benjamin Mbonimpa, who attended to mark the completion of the program and address participants.

AFC-M23 officials encouraged the 530 graduates to apply the lessons learned in service of local communities, with an emphasis on improving governance practices and contributing to local stability and security.

Graduates included neighborhood leaders and community representatives who were urged to take active roles in supporting population needs and reinforcing local administrative structures.

The training and graduation ceremony took place in Kanombe, within Rutshuru territory, an area that has seen ongoing political and security sensitivity in recent years.

Among the officials present were Bahati Musanga Erasto, who serves as governor of North Kivu province, and Désiré Ngabo Kisuba, mayor of Goma. Also in attendance was Benjamin Mbonimpa, an AFC-M23 official.
