7,957 kilograms of cargo from Kinshasa and another 6,030 kilograms from Nairobi were airlifted to Bunia on May 20 as MONUSCO stepped up logistical support for Ebola response efforts in northeastern Democratic Republic of the Congo.
The deliveries, coordinated with Congolese health authorities and humanitarian partners, are intended to reinforce ongoing emergency operations in Ituri Province, where rapid response teams continue surveillance and contact-tracing activities aimed at containing the spread of the virus.
MONUSCO said it also provided motorcycles to health teams operating in the region to improve access to remote communities and strengthen the mobility of frontline responders.
The UN mission has played a key logistical role in supporting Ebola interventions in eastern DRC, where poor infrastructure and persistent insecurity have complicated public health operations.
