Leaked audio recordings from leaders of the Wazalendo militia have surfaced, exposing their direct involvement in the Bukavu terrorist attack that left 11 dead and 65 injured. The recordings reveal the militia members bragging about the carnage and issuing further threats, completely debunking the Congolese government’s desperate attempts to deny responsibility.
Wazalendo, a government-backed militia, has long been operating under Kinshasa’s direct command, alongside Burundian forces. The Tshisekedi regime continues to shamelessly cover up its crimes, despite overwhelming evidence of its direct role in fueling terror in eastern DRC.
The attack was announced in advance by David Radjabu Djuma, a known ally of the Kinshasa regime. Two days before the massacre, Radjabu released a video threatening those attending Corneille Nangaa’s AFC/M23 rally. His warning has now been fulfilled, proving an undeniable link between the Congolese government and the armed groups committing atrocities.
Radjabu’s deep ties to the regime are further confirmed by his August 22, 2024, meeting with the Congolese Minister of Land Affairs, proving that ethnic hate speech and mass killings are not only tolerated but orchestrated at the highest levels of government.
Despite the regime’s frantic propaganda to shift blame, their own mercenaries are publicly confirming their role. The Wazalendo militia, funded and armed by Kinshasa, has taken full credit for the Bukavu attack, exposing the government’s desperate attempts to save face while its hands remain stained with blood.
With tensions rising, AFC/M23 has vowed to push back the security threat “very, very, very far from Kivu.” The international community must no longer turn a blind eye to state-sponsored terrorism. The International Criminal Court, whose prosecutor general recently visited Kinshasa to meet Tshisekedi, must act before more innocent lives are lost.
