The United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO) has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the response to the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), according to an official press release issued from Kinshasa.
In the statement, MONUSCO said it continues to work closely with Congolese authorities, the World Health Organization (WHO), and humanitarian partners to strengthen efforts aimed at containing the virus and protecting affected communities.
The mission emphasized that, in the face of the Ebola emergency, it is providing logistical support to the WHO and remains fully mobilized to assist health authorities in responding effectively to the crisis.
MONUSCO also confirmed that its medical services have reinforced preventive measures, including health screening procedures at clinics and the systematic use of protective equipment by medical personnel in contact with patients.
MONUSCO noted that it is continuously adapting its prevention measures in line with guidance from the DRC Ministry of Health and the WHO.
The UN mission further stressed the importance of relying on verified and official information sources to combat misinformation surrounding the outbreak.
It urged staff members, partners, and local communities to follow communications issued by competent health authorities.
“Reliable and verified information is essential in the fight against Ebola,” the statement indicated, warning that disinformation could undermine public health efforts and endanger vulnerable populations.
MONUSCO reaffirmed that it remains engaged within the framework of its mandate and in coordination with Congolese authorities and international partners to support an effective response aimed at safeguarding public health and strengthening health security in affected areas.
