AFC-M23 has announced an extension of operating hours at the Grande Barrière border crossing in Goma, North Kivu Province.
The group said the move is part of its stated efforts to make it easier for residents and traders to use the border and facilitate the movement of goods.
Under the new schedule, the Grande Barrière crossing will open at 5:00 a.m. and remain operational until 2:00 a.m.
AFC-M23 said the extended hours are intended to give travellers more time to cross the border while also facilitating the movement of goods entering and leaving the DRC.
The Grande Barrière is one of the key crossing points connecting Goma with Rwanda and plays an important role in cross-border travel and trade between the two countries.
The announcement comes as movement of people and goods through the Goma-Rwanda border remains an important part of economic activity in the area.
