Democratic Republic of Congo President Félix Tshisekedi held talks with French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot on security and health-related issues.

The meeting took place in Kinshasa on Friday, although it had not been officially announced in advance.

Barrot and Tshisekedi discussed a range of security concerns, particularly the ongoing challenges affecting several parts of the DRC.

DRC Health Minister Roger Kamba and Deputy Foreign Minister Noëlla Ayeganagato also attended the meeting.

On health matters, the officials discussed measures being taken to respond to the Ebola outbreak, as well as efforts to protect communities and prevent further transmission of the virus.

Barrot’s visit to Kinshasa comes as the DRC continues to deal with security challenges while health authorities step up efforts to contain the Ebola outbreak.
